What should you consider when choosing an LED floodlight?

IP rating

For outdoor use, a sufficiently high IP rating is essential. An IP65 rating means that the floodlight is completely dustproof and resistant to water jets from all directions. Most models in our range have IP65 and are therefore suitable for outdoor use, even in rainy climates.

Light color

LED floodlights are available in various light color temperatures:

• 3,000K (warm white): more atmospheric, less sharp. Suitable for facades or gardens.
• 4,000K (neutral white): bright but not cold. Widely used in parking areas and on yards.
• 6,000K (daylight/cool white): maximum brightness. Suitable for workplaces, construction sites, and security lighting.

Mounting

What is the difference between an LED floodlight and an LED spotlight?

In practice, the terms LED floodlight, LED wide-beam light, and LED spotlight are often used interchangeably. Technically, a floodlight has a wide beam (wide radiation pattern) and illuminates large surfaces. A classic spotlight sometimes has a more focused beam. What wattage do I need for my driveway or parking lot?

For an average driveway or small parking lot, an LED floodlight of 20W to 50W is sufficient. For larger parking lots or areas where extra security is required, you would choose 100W or higher. In addition to wattage, also consider the mounting height and the desired lighting level.

What does IP65 mean for an LED floodlight?

IP65 stands for the protection rating of the housing. The first digit (6) means that the device is completely protected against dust. The second digit (5) indicates that it is resistant to water jets from any direction. An LED floodlight with IP65 is therefore suitable for outdoor use, even in rain or high humidity.
