LED High Bay 200W for high spaces

A 200W LED High Bay is designed to powerfully and uniformly illuminate large, high spaces. With this wattage class, you can illuminate ceilings that are approximately 8 to 10 meters high without sacrificing light quality. You will therefore find these high bays mainly in warehouses, workshops, production halls, sports halls, and showrooms. Are you still exploring the full range? Then first check the main category LED High Bays for all wattages and versions side-by-side.

The 200W variant is a popular intermediate size: more powerful than a 150W high bay, but still suitable for spaces where a 240W model would provide just too much light. On this page, we will help you determine if 200W suits your situation and what to look for when making your choice.

For which spaces is a 200W high bay suitable?

The wattage, together with the light output, determines how high you can hang a high bay and how much area you illuminate per fixture. A 200W LED High Bay provides a high light output and can therefore be used well with ceiling heights of around 8 to 10 meters. Typical applications include:

  • warehouses and distribution centers
  • production and assembly halls
  • workshops and garages with high ceilings
  • sports halls and gymnasiums
  • showrooms and large retail spaces

Are you hesitating between different wattages? The table below provides a general guideline. The exact choice depends on the desired light intensity, the layout of the space, and the type of work performed there.

Wattage

Indicative ceiling height

Common application

100W

approx. 4-6 meters

smaller workshops, lower halls

150W

approx. 6-8 meters

medium-sized warehouses and workshops

200W

approx. 8-10 meters

large warehouses, production halls, sports halls

240W

approx. 10 meters and higher

very high halls and large-scale projects

A higher wattage does not automatically mean better lighting. Too much light in a lower space causes glare and wastes unnecessary energy. Therefore, choose based on ceiling height and the amount of light required for the work.

What to look for when choosing a 200W LED High Bay?

Besides wattage, there are a few specifications that make a difference to your end result. We list the most important ones.

Light output and light color

The light output is expressed in lumens. For a 200W high bay, this is typically around 30,000 lumens, although the exact value varies per model and efficiency (lm/W). Higher efficiency means more light from the same power. The light color for industrial applications is almost always neutral white (4000K), as this is pleasant and bright for working.

Beam angle

The beam angle determines how the light is distributed. A wide angle (e.g., 120°) spreads the light over a larger area and is suitable for lower mounting heights. For higher ceilings, a narrower angle is often chosen so that the light is directed more concentrated downwards, and less light loss occurs.

IP rating and environment

Many high bays have an IP65 rating, making them suitable for dusty and damp environments. If you work in a space with a lot of dust, moisture, or fluctuating temperatures, check the specified IP rating on the product page.

Dimmability and sensors

Do you want to save energy in places that are not continuously in use? Then choose a dimmable high bay or a version with a sensor. Check out the category LED High Bays with sensor, which automatically turns the light on and off based on presence.

How many 200W high bays do I need?

The number of fixtures depends on the area, ceiling height, and desired light intensity. A 200W high bay typically illuminates an area of several tens of square meters each. For an even distribution, it is often better to spread several lamps than to place one powerful lamp centrally, as the light intensity directly under the fixture is always higher.

For a rough estimate, you can divide the total area by the area that one fixture illuminates. For larger or project-based spaces, we always recommend a professional lighting plan to ensure you have the right amount and distribution. For larger quantities, project discounts are possible; please contact us for this.

High bays with Philips driver

Some of our 200W high bays are equipped with a Philips driver. The driver is the component that supplies power to the LED and partly determines the reliability and lifespan of the fixture. A quality driver ensures a stable, flicker-free light. Please note: this means that the high bay contains a Philips driver, not that it is a complete fixture of the Philips brand. The specific driver is listed per product on the product page.

UFO high bay or linear high bay?

High bays come in roughly two shapes. The round UFO high bay is compact and easy to hang, and is the most common form for warehouses and halls. The linear (elongated) high bay provides a more even, extended light distribution and fits well above aisles and workbenches. Both forms are available in the 200W class; the choice depends on the layout of your space.

Frequently asked questions about LED High Bay 200W

For which ceiling height is a 200W high bay suitable?

A 200W LED High Bay is generally suitable for ceilings approximately 8 to 10 meters high. The exact mounting height depends on the light output and the beam angle of the specific model. For lower spaces, a 150W or 100W high bay may be a better choice.

How many lumens does a 200W LED High Bay produce?

The light output for most 200W high bays is around 30,000 lumens. The exact value varies per model and depends on the efficiency in lumens per watt. The exact light output can be found on the respective product page.

What is the difference between a UFO high bay and a linear high bay?

A UFO high bay is round and compact, with a single suspension point, and is ideal for warehouses and halls. A linear high bay is elongated and provides a more even light distribution, which fits well above aisles and workbenches. Both are available in 200W.

Are 200W LED High Bays dimmable?

Many 200W high bays are dimmable, often via a 1-10V driver. Whether a specific model is dimmable is indicated on the product page. For additional savings, you can also choose a version with a sensor.

Does a Philips driver mean it's a Philips high bay?

No. A high bay with a Philips driver contains a Philips-brand driver, but is not a complete fixture from the Philips brand. The driver ensures a stable, flicker-free power supply to the LED and contributes to the reliability of the fixture.
